Despite my reading mojo being AWOL of late, When I was asked if I would like to review and kick off the blog for the last book in the Conwenna Cove series by Darcie Boleyn, I jumped at the chance.

Forever at Conwenna Cove is the third Conwenna Cove book, the first being Summer at and the 2nd Christmas at.

I'm really going to miss being in Conwenna Cove, all of the characters Darcie has written about have all had troubled times and the cove almost has heeling powers... with its idyllic landscapes and friendly locals it's certainly a holiday destination thty I would go to!

In Forever at Conwenna Cove we meet Zoe and Nate.

We've met Nate a few times in the previous two stories so I was really pleased to see he finally had a starring role. He's currently working in the local cafe that his aunt and uncle own having moved to Conwenna after losing his father. 

Nate is a bit if charmer, a surfer dude with a ladies man reputation, however with Jack and Oli having now settled down (Jacks story is with Eva in book one, Oli with Grace in book 2!) He is started to think about his life and achievements. He wants to settle down but has always wanted to travel too and plans the latter after he organises a fundraising event for the local grey hound charity.

Zoe is a new character who owns and runs the local diner. She escaped to the cove and made a business for herself. I don't want to say too much about why she has come to Conwenna as the reasons why she moved here is quite a big part of her and Nate's story, but she has had a troubled time and again Conwenna seems to be helping her.

Zoe and Nate meet when he is organising the fundraiser and as with all good stories, they grow close and form feelings to each other.

I wondered where Darcie could go with another Conwenna tale but this one is just as fresh as the previous two and has some real challenges thrown in to the mix.

I loved the sub plots of Nates mother and Zoe returning to to home town, they tied in nicely with both their pasts and their present lives.

And reconnecting with the other characters from the Cove was a delight - especially cheeky  little Tom (if you know, you know... right?!)

I really hope Darcie decides to take us back to Conwenna Cove at some point as I'd love to check in on the whole gang and see what they are up to! 

As with the other books, this can be read as a stand alone novel but I like to read things in order and feel you will benefit from doing so in this series.

Grace soon meets local vet Oli Davenport and initially finds him rude, but learning about his passion for animals and how much he cares for his two kids helps Grace to see a softer side to Oli.

It’s been two years since Oli lost his wife to cancer. Though he loves eleven-year-old Amy and five-year-old Tom more than anything it’s hard to be mum and dad. He has no interest in romance until he crosses paths with beautiful and kind-hearted Grace. The sparks fly but both Oli and Grace are holding onto fear about letting someone into their heart.

             

Today I'm delighted to be kicking off the blog tour run by Canelo for the latest festive instalment from Darcie Boleyn - Christmas at Conwenna Cove. Although this is the second book in the Conwenna Cove series, it can be read as a total standalone novel , that said, if you read Summer at Conwenna Cove then there will be a few familiar faces making small cameo's.

Christmas at Conwenna Cove is a great, sweet read and perfect to curl up with this winter if you are after a delightfully romantic festive read.

We return to Conwenna Cove with Grace and Oli's story, Grace being in the area to help her parents settle in to their new home to see out their retirement years, and Oli is the local vet.

Grace and Oli meet quite early on into the story and although the attraction is obvious, both are wary and for good reasons too, I won't go into details too much as I dont want to ruin the bulk of the plot lines for you so lets just say they both have fragile hearts and over the course of the festive period,  we see Grace not only grow closer to Oli bit to his two young children, Amy and Tom, too.

Darcie Boleyn has perfectly captured the essence of Christmas - not only does she write giving a great description of Conwenna Cove in Winter, she has also managed to capture the emotions of the characters - I often felt my heart breaking and eyes watering at the same time as chuckling away at the optimism and enthusiasm of 5 year old Tom, who for me was my favourite sub character bringing light relief to the heavier story lines and, lets face it - a child's excitement is what makes Christmas, right?!

Christmas at Conwenna Cove left me feeling warm and fuzzy with its wonderful characters, beautiful settings and in depth story lines - a brilliant festive story.

Darcie Boleyn is fast becoming a favourite author of mine, its not been long since I read her last novel - Summer at Conwenna Cove - yet she is back already with another summer novel filled with romance.

As with Summer at Conwenna Cove being set in Cornwall, Darcie remains bang on trend with Love on the Italian Lake as this years holiday destination for books seems to be set in and round the idyllic location of Lake Garda - yes I have immediately added the small town of Malcesine to my bucket list!

Love at the Italian Lake features Sophia and Joe as the main characters. 

Sophia has fled to Italy to spend some time with her Grandmother after her world is turned upside down due to a cheating boyfriend and lack of job satisfaction causing her to quit - despite the healthy bank balance it has provided her with.

Her break away however gets off to to a flying start - quite literally, as she is knocked right off her feet by the ever so handsome Joe. Despite their being some instant attraction, Sophia decline's his offer to take her to where she is staying and Sophia opts for the long and uncomfortable coach journey to her Nonna's house.

The last thing she expects when spending time with her Nonna is to bump in to Joe again!

Sophia is loving finding herself, the weather, the coffee and the Italian food but after looking though some old photographs with her Nonna - something she discovers is troubling her and it is Joe that she opens up to.

Sophia and Joe get closer and closer and although she has opened up, Joe seems to be holding back despite his clear feelings for Sophia.

As time goes on and new opportunities arrive, I was sure Sophia and Joe were headed for the happy ever after that Darcie writes so well... and don't get me wrong, we got there eventually but once again Darcie has stepped up her writing abilities with lots of twists and turns in the sub plots.

With great characters, beautiful settings, hidden secrets and warm romantic moments, Love at the Italian Lake is another brilliant novel from Darcie that guarantees you will be unable to put down.

When I was asked if I would like to read and review Summer at Conwenna Cove as part of Darcie Boleyn's blog tour, I jumped at the chance.

I've loved Darcie's novels but her first, Wish Upon A Christmas Cake, had something magical about it that I felt her subsequent novels didn't quite have, albeit they were still very enjoyable to read.

Summer at Conwenna Cove however, was demolished in one sitting. Right from the opening page I was gripped into Eve's life and wanted to just keep on reading.

Eve is troubled with guilt over her choices she has made and the stress of a fast paced career as a head teacher is starting to take its toll on her health. With encouragement from her friend and colleague, Amanda, Eve makes the decision to have some time out. After contacting her Aunt Mary, who she has been neglecting for a while, she makes the trip to Cornwall for some well deserved R&R.

Aunt Mary is delighted to have Eve back at Conwenna Cove, but her lodger isn't so sure.

Jack has built Eve up in his head to be some stuck up city girl who can't be bpothered to make time for her aunt, however when Eve arrives he is thrown and surprised not only by hoe fragile Eve is but by the feelings she stirs in the depths of his soul and ones he thought had been locked away for good.

I adored Jack, maybe because I am biased of the Royal Marines anyway, but the way he came across as a gentle giant certainly makes him a contender for 'book boyfriend of the summer' - everyone needs a Jack haha!

It quickly becomes clear that there are feelings between Eve and Jack but both are nursing wounds and with Eve unsure where her future lies, they have to tread carefully.

Darcie's writing style flowed effortlessly, there was an enjoyable cast of characters, setting that make you want to jet off to Cornwall and a story line that was was a mixture of deep feelings and light hearted moments. 

I loved seeing Eve and Jack's relationship form, feeling characters fall in love as you read the words the author has written is one of the joys of romance books, but the supporting characters and their own stories were just as fab to read about.

For me, Summer at Conwenna Cove, had all the magic of Darcie's first story and I feel she is right back at the top of her game. Honestly, I could have read about Eve and Jack for a good few hours longer!

Deciding to go along with the lie until after Christmas, both Lucie and Dale struggle to suppress their true feelings, but one lie turns to another and the pair not only end up having to share a very swanky Manhattan hotel room together, it is also presumed that they have gotten engaged too.

A Very Merry Manhattan Christmas has all the makings of a lovely dovey story, however the further you read, the deeper Lucie's history goes - I won't obviously tell you all the book's secrets as you really should read for yourself, but I really felt for Lucie with everything she had gone through and kept quite about.

On the other hand, I really wanted to bash her head together with Dale's as it was clear they were besotted with each other, and despite having a teenage fling and remaining friends, they didn't want to risk their friendship again.

Manhattan seems to be the hot spot location for many books this winter, and Darcie's is no exception. With her warm and witty writing style, teamed with some sensitive sub plots, made A Very Merry Manhattan Christmas a delight to read. It was a real page turner in the sense that one minute Lucie and Dale seem to give in to their feelings, the next they seem to back off.

The sub plots I mentioned, worked alongside nicely and I love the symbolic heart balloon on the cover which will all become clear as you read on.

Snow, horse and carriage rides, champagne adding to the Christmas cheer from Dale, makes this Christmas one for Lucie to enjoy and remember.

I really, REALLY wanted to be typing about how much I adored this book as I did Darcie's début last year, Wish Upon A Christmas Cake, and when I saw the gorgeous book cover revealed I was full of high hopes.

Let me be clear, whilst I didn't adore it as much as I'd hoped, I didn't dislike it either - which makes this review all the more difficult to write.

The story follows Annie Thomas, a single mother to teenage daughter Janis, and youngsters Henry and the adorable Anabelle. Annie's family is very contemporary too - her first ex-husband Evan is a high flying business man, whilst her second ex- husband Dex, marries within the story to his partner, Trevor. I commend Darcie for writing a book about modern times and this in itself was refreshing to read.

Annie clearly still holds a torch for Evan (Janis' Father) and as soon as he moves jobs to base himself permanently in the UK we see that his feelings are mutual, albeit they do dilly dally around and deny it for a while.

Trust is a big feature within the book, along with a bit of a will they, won't they get back together scenario. Throughout there are wonderfully humorous parts too, equally there are moments where I felt my eyes well up. All in all it was a cute story with some brilliant and colourful characters and dog names!

=My gripe, if you could call it that, is that that the first third of the book didn't flow for me. 

Although the first couple of chapters were well written in Darcie's brilliant style, for me they felt a bit 'bitty' - almost like memoirs whilst the next third, despite the story getting into it's flow, I found to be repetitive at times - not only did history repeat itself with the plot involving Janis and Annie, but I found the narrative telling the same sninippits I'd read or grasped in earlier chapters. 

The final third however was the best of the book for me, and it was everything I'd hoped it would be from knowing Darcie's previous work, so I'm really glad I stuck it out, and despite the slow start (which I'm putting down to those second book troubles we hear often about) I'm looking forward to seeing what Darcie follows Something Old, Something New with!
